The groom's grooming checklist: four weeks to a great wedding-day face
A no-nonsense four-week plan for Punjabi grooms — skin, beard, hair and the day itself — plus what groom makeup actually is (and isn't).

Brides plan for months. Grooms often plan for an hour — the morning of. Four weeks of small, easy steps makes a very visible difference in the photos you will be looking at for the rest of your life.
Four weeks out
- Start a basic routine: cleanser morning and night, a light moisturiser, sunscreen every day. That is it. Do not buy a twelve-step kit.
- Decide the beard shape with your barber now, so there is time to grow or trim into it.
- Book your grooming for every event you care about: pre-wedding shoot, wedding, reception.
- Hands and nails: the ring photos are coming. One tidy manicure now and one the week before.
Two weeks out
- Haircut plan: book the final cut for 7–10 days before the wedding.
- Sleep and water: boring, but dark circles are the number one thing we correct on grooms.
- Try on the sherwani / suit with the shoes and the safa or dastaar. Note anything that pulls or shows (a collar that rubs the neck, a sehra that flattens hair).
- No new products from here. A reaction a week before the wedding is a disaster you can avoid.
The final week
- Final haircut (and beard shape).
- Lips: balm every night. Dry lips look dramatically worse on camera than in person.
- Brows: tidy strays only — do not reshape.
- Sun: avoid getting burnt; tan lines from a sleeveless jersey show in an open-collar kurta.
The day
We arrive about 90 minutes before you need to be ready. Here is what groom grooming actually involves:
- Skin: cleanse, moisturise, a sheer matte base matched to your neck. Dark circles and razor marks evened out. Shine controlled for the lights and the dhol-side sweat.
- Beard and brows: lined, conditioned, tidy.
- Hair: styled to last. Dastaar-ready or sehra-safe — we style around the headgear, not under it.
- The sherwani check: collar, kalgi, brooch and dupatta straight. The back too — the photographer will shoot it.
- A touch-up kit for your brother or best friend: blotting sheets, a comb, lip balm.
What it is not
Not foundation you can see. Not a tan. Not eyeliner (unless you want it). Grooms who book us say the same thing afterwards: nobody noticed anything, and the photos were the best they have ever taken. That is the whole point.

Questions brides ask about this
Do grooms really need makeup?
Not makeup in the way brides mean it. Groom grooming is a sheer, matte evening-out of skin tone, tidy brows and a defined beard — invisible in person, obvious in photos.
When should the groom get his last haircut?
Seven to ten days before the wedding. Fresh enough to look sharp, settled enough not to look just-cut.
How long does groom makeup take on the day?
Thirty to forty-five minutes, wherever you are getting ready.
